Site Update

News 13th May 2007

We are pleased to announce that all UK Postage and Packing is Free. Overseas postage will be charged dependant on location.

We have been continuing to add new prints to the Military Gallery section including many by Robert Taylor which are nearly sold out at the publishers. These galleries will continue to grow over the next few weeks until all of the available prints are listed. We will be adding some more framed pictured over the next week or so which will include a very nice Richard Simkin Watercolour, a large original colour print of a First World War Torpedo boat from the 1915 edition of the Graphic. We will also have a large print by John Young entitled A Bold Leap which depicts the Red Devils parachuting at Arnhem 1944. This print is signed by General Sir John Hackett CBE,DSO.MC who was commander of the 4th Parachute Brigade during Operation Market Garden.

Our next show will be the Antiques and Collectors Fair and the 3 Counties Showground, Malvern Worcestershire on Sunday 3rd June 2007. Following that we will be at the Days of Thunder show ( http://www.daysofthunder.biz/ ) on the weekend of 16th and 17th June 2007 at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, Powys LD2 3SY.

We currently only have a small selection of our stock on show so if there is something specific you require it would be best to ring before visiting to ensure it is available. We are currently expanding the area we have available for display and hope by the end of April to be able to display everything. We are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 until 17:00.

Our next show will be The Military Collectors Fair at the Museum of Army Flying, Middle Wallop, Stockbridge, Hampshire. As well as a Militaria Fair and a Military, Aviation and Naval Book Fair admission also includes access to the museum. following that we will be attending the Antiques and Collectors Fair and the 3 Counties Showground, Malvern Worcestershire on Sunday 6th May 2007.

News 28th March 2007

We are continuing to add prints to the Military Gallery section and have nearly completed the Richard Taylor Gallery. Listed is his latest work entitled Ramraiders which features the heavily armoured FW190 A-8 fighter especially modified to attack the heavily armed B17's and B24's from the rear.

We have now completed the move of our workshop to new premises at Lacock. We are located in the same building as Kings Furniture Restorers, see address below. We currently only have a small selection of our stock on show so if there is something specific you require it would be best to ring before visiting to ensure it is available. We are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 until 17:00.

News 13th March 2007

We have added some new pictures to some of the site which includes a lovely original pen and ink drawing by Richard Simkin (1840 - 1926) in the Original Art Gallery. An original coloured steel engraving depicting the Battle of Waterloo June 1815 printed in September of the same year in the Antique Prints Gallery. Also in this gallery is an original 1907 Chromolithograph entitled "All That Was Left Of Them" by R. Caton-Woodville depicting the roll call after the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balakalva. In the 1800 -1899 Gallery there are two nice prints of "The Battle of Abuklea" and "The Battle of Tamaii" from the Sudan Wars. Finally in the Unframed Antique Prints Gallery are some original 19th Century prints by R.Simkin.

News 12th February 2007

We have added some very nice original 19th Century engravings and chromolithographs to the Antique Gallery including some fantastic regimental uniform studies by R. Simkin, R.Caton-Woodville, Harry Payne and Godfrey Douglas Giles. Regiments include the Durham Light Infantry, The Hampshire Regiment, 64th and 98th Staffordshire Regiment and the 71st Regiment of Foot "The Highland Regiment". We have many more than we can list here so if there is a specific regiment you are interested in please give us a call or send us an e-mail or even a text and we will see if we can help. In the Pre 1800 Gallery there are some new prints by Brian Palmer; The Battle of Hastings, Alexander the Great and Owain Glyndwr. In the WW2 gallery is a fine first edition print by Robert Taylor of "The Last Moments of the Hood" signed by Ted Briggs one of only 3 survivors.

We would like to thank the organisers of Call To Arms 2007 Wargames Show at Theale Green School, Reading, Berkshire. This was our first time with a trade stand at a wargame show and we were made very welcome.

Our next show will be Malvern Antiques and Collectors Fair at the 3 Counties Showground, Malvern on the 4th March. This will be followed on the 18th March by Overlord 2007 Wargames Show at Fitzharry's School, Northcourt Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire OX14 1NP

News 4th February 2007

We have added some new Nicolas Trudgian prints to the Military Gallery section. These include "Hurricane Country", "Holding the Line" and "First Flap of the Day" amongst others. Over the next few weeks we will be adding some very nice original 19th Century engravings and Chromolithographs to the Antique Gallery including some fantastic regimental uniform studies by Simkin. News 29th January 2007

We would first like to thank all the people we spoke to at Militaria 2007 in the The Exhibition Centre, Stoneleigh Park, Coventry. This was our first time at this event and we were made to feel very welcome. We look forward to seeing you again next time and perhaps at some of the other Militaria events this year.

A new gallery has been added to the top of the Gallery page which will contain prints published by the Military Gallery and includes the work of Robert Taylor, Richard Taylor, Nicolas Trudgian, Simon Atack, Gerald Coulson, Robert Watts and Barry Rowe. It will grow over the next few weeks as more prints are added so please keep checking back.

The next event we will be attending is the monthly Antique and Collectors Fair at the 3 Counties Showground, Malvern on Sunday 4th February. This is followed on the 10th February by Call To Arms Wargames Show at Theale Green School, Reading.

Happy New Year

We have some exciting news for 2007. Firstly we are now official dealers for the Military Gallery range of fine art prints. This includes the work of Robert Taylor, Richard Taylor, Nicolas Trudgian, Simon Atack, Gerald Coulson, Robert Watts and Barry Rowe. All these artists prints can be supplied unframed or if required framed to full conservation level by us at Cleeve Prints. We will be adding these prints to the site over the next few weeks but please do not hesitate to contact us if there is something you do not yet see.

Secondly, early in February, if all goes to plan, we will moving into some new premises near to the village of Lacock. This will not only give us a larger workshop area but also plenty of space to display out stock, allow us to open 6 days a weeks and also remove the need to make an appointment before visiting. News 5th December 2006

We have started to slowly add prints to the unframed section of the galleries which are obtained directly from the publishers. These will include open and limited edition prints from artists such as David Shepherd, Gerald Coulson, Adrian Rigby, Philip West and Derek Garner. We are also able to obtain prints from US artists such as James Dietz, Craig Kodera, James Flood, Mort Kunstler, and William Phillips. Please give us a call or send us a e-mail to check availability of the limited editions as stocks are usually low so we need to confirm they are in stock. We have also recently obtained a large number of 19th Century engravings, chromolithographs and watercolours which have come from the Parker Gallery, London. These include uniforms studies by R. Simkin and some fine coloured engravings of Naval subjects. Please check back regularly as they will be added to the site over the next few weeks.

News 23rd November 2006

We have updated the site with a number of new pictures and prints including 3 very nice original watercolours by Barry Barnes, 2 small black and white watercolour/gouache works depicting WW1 ships painted shortly after the war. A very nice Spitfire print by Melvyn Buckley as well as some unframed and very rare uniform studies of Canadian regiments. In the Pre 1800 section there is a fantastic Mark Churms print of the Battle of Bannockburn. In the coming weeks we will be adding many prints to the unframed section of the site. These will be new from the publisher so will not be mounted or framed, this of course can be done if requested, so please keep checking back.

Good news is we have finally sorted out the change between Internet Service Providers so updating the web site should now be on a regular basis. It also means that we have confirmed the phone number so we have a land line back as well as a mobile number. The new number is listed in the ordering section below.

We have a number of new updates to tell you about.

Firstly we can now offer a comprehensive, professional picture framing service. We will be happy to frame any artwork, not just military, etc., to full conservation standards as laid down by the Fine Arts Trade Guild. We have a large range of mountboards and 1000's of different frames available to choose from. For a quote either send us an e-mail or give us a ring and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

We have added a number of new pictures and prints to the newly designed galleries, including a very nice early 20th Century coloured print "All That Was Left Of Them" in the Antique Print gallery.

We are still in the process of changing our Internet Service Provider which means there will be no site updates during this time. This will also mean a possible change in phone numbers. We have been continuing to update the pictures in all of the galleries as well as adding some new framed prints. There are a number of new American Civil War prints in the 1800 to 1899 gallery including a very nice set of four uniform prints by R.J. Marrion. Continuing the American Civil War theme are three prints by american artist John Warr and one by Jim Lancia. The post war gallery has two new prints including a very atmospheric print by Phillip West.

We have added some new framed prints to the World War Two gallery including some very nice Mark Postlethwaite limited editions and a Eric Day print of a Consolidated Catalina flying boat attackin a U-boot during the Battle of the Atlantic. This print is made even more special by the fact that it has been signed not only by the artist but also John Cruikshank VC who flew this type of aircraft during the Second World War. Two new items have been added to the Post WW2 gallery including another Mark Postlethwaite and a very nice original oil on canvas of an F14 Tomcat by the highly respected artist Trevor Lay.

Firstly we would to apologize for the lack of updates to the site. Unfortunately circumstances beyond our control have prevented us from keeping the site up to date. Some new prints have just been added to the site. These include a nice publishers proof copy of "Sword Beach 6th June 19442 by Chris Collingwood. Faith, Hope and Charity by Kenneth McDonough depicting the 3 Gloster Gladiators flying over the Grand Harbour, Malta. Stealth 1944 by Steve Gibbs, showing a Lysander taking off from a field near Paris 1944 bringing an agent back to England for briefing prior to D-Day. A nice Richard Knotel print depicting Prussian General Von Bulow joining his troops and a limited edition SE5a Aerophile print by Malcolm Kinnear. This print has the addition of two very rare World War One veteran signatures as well as that of the artist.

Firstly we would like to wish all our customers a very

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Some new prints have just been added to the site. These include a lovely print of the 1993 red Arrows team flying over the Derwant resevoir in salute of the Dambusters of 617 sqn. The print is by Mark Postlethwaite and is signed by the artist and all 9 members of the Red Arrows. In the same gallery you will also find 2 nice caricatures of a Hercules from RAF Lyneham and a Lightning from RAF Binbrook. In the 1800 -1899 gallery there is a Mark Churms print of Lt. Chard of Roukes Drift fame and mounted with teh print is a fine replica of a Victoria cross. Also in this Gallery is a nice limited edition print of HMS Warrior, Britains first Iron Clad warship. In the WW2 gallery is a profile print of a Fairy Swordfish which is signed by John Wellum who flew these fabulous old bi-planes during WW2 and took part in the famous raids on the Italian port of Taranto. Included with this print are two hardback books, "With Naval Wings" and "The Attack on Taranto" both signed by John Wellum.

In the 1800 to 1899 gallery there is a Richard Knotel print, The Storming of Le Haye Saint and a nice little embossed print after Harry Payne from the Victoria Cross gallery. 1900 to 1913 has an original cartoon from the Punch magazine and a nice print "In the Trenches at Ladysmith" after R.Caton Woodville. The Original Picture gallery has a oil on board of a Lancaster waiting for take off. In the WW1 gallery is an original full colour lithographed print of "Phases of the British Army in Great War" The colours are so bright that it looks like it has never been exposed to the light. Finally in the WW2 gallery "Sante Marija Convoy" by Edwin Galea, a fine Maltese who works exclusively in watercolours and an original wartime advertisement for the Bristol Blenheim.

Apologies for the slow updates to the site but we are having a new workshop constructed and whilst this work has been going on we have been unable to get any new pictures completed and uploaded to the site. This work is nearing completion so we should have some pictures to upload later in the week. They will hopefully include a nice oil on board of a Lancaster Bomber and a pair of 19th Century colour engravings after W.L. Wylie depicting the first and last voyage of HMS Victory.

New prints have been added to the following galleries:

1919-1938 - Two very nice pre-WW2 prints from the French magazine of the day l'Illustration

WW2 - Two more original WW2 advertisments for the Gloster Gladiator taken from original copies of the Aeroplane magazine. A Fantatic pencil and airbrush print of the cast from Dad's Army, A Royal Doulton limited edition print of Spitfires over London during the Battle of Britain, A Dam Busters prints signed by one of the pilots on the raid Bill Reid VC. A very atmospheric print by Robert Taylor of the "Last Moments of the Hood" signed by Ted Briggs one of only 3 survivors. Finally a framed dust jacket from the book "Onward to Malta" with dedication by the author T.F. Neil. This print also comes with a hard backed copy of the book.

Post WW2 - Large Robert Taylor print entitled "Canberra's over Cambridge" signed by Robert Taylor and pilot Roland Beamont.

Original Art - Three nice little watercolours by Frank Isom in original frames, first depicting a British guards Officer circa 1890, second a 18th Century British Infantryman and finally a Zulu warrior.
